(English) Kim Dongseok studied law at Sungkyunkwan University, and after finishing his graduate studies at the College of Confucian Studies and Eastern Philosophy at the same university, he received his PhD from the Academy of Korean Studies for his dissertation “A Study on Sigwon during the Joseon Dynasty.” He studied Chinese characters from Im Changsun at the Taedong Center for Eastern Classics and from Hong Changyu at the Confucian Center, and completed the Korean transcription research program at the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics and the program of the cursive writing style of Chinese characters at the National Institute of Korean History. He worked as an advisor at the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics, and he is currently working as a researcher at the Academy of Korean Studies. His publications include The Observations on Archiving Documents, An Official Study on the Verse Style Used in Civil Service Examinations during the Joseon Dynasty, Understanding the Traditional Lunar Calendar System and Astronomy, and A Study on Collaborated Answers on Civil Service Examinations.
