Chang Eungbok
  • 장응복

Born in Seoul, Korea, Chang Eungbok graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Hongik University and established Mono, the predecessor of Mono Collection, in 1985. Building on her foundation in textile design, she has contributed to Korea's textile design field, extending from furniture and soft interiors for residential and commercial spaces to large-scale hotel projects both in Korea and abroad.

Chang has presented numerous exhibitions, including at the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo (2005), Fine Art Gallery Art Link (2010), the Seoul Museum of Art, Nam-Seoul (2013), Woon Kyung Mansion in Seoul, Carl Hansen & Søn Flagship Store in Denmark (2019), and Print Bakery Hannam Flagship store in Korea (2022). Her works are also held in prestigious collections such as the Blue House, the Seoul Museum of Art, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.

Particularly in domestic and international corporate promotions and diplomatic events, her designs have served to represent identity. Chang adds positive energy to our lives through spatial design that applies patterns containing symbolic image language, or “pictures of meaning.” She believes that experiencing and breathing in the symbolism and meaning of patterns in such spaces leads us to discover more ideal ways of living. Additionally, through integration with crafts, she has been working to give sustainable value to our lives and nature by utilizing local materials and techniques and making them practical for direct use in contemporary life.
