Kim Insuk was born in 1963 in Seoul and graduated from the Department of Media and Communications at Yonsei University. She made her literary debut in 1983 through The Chosun Ilbo. Her works include the short story collections Walking Together; Blades and Love; Glass Shoes; Waiting for a Brass Band; The Woman’s Autobiography; Hello, Elena; and The One and Only Everlasting Night; the novels Veins; Flames; Winter of ’79 and Spring of ’80; Morning Hours after a Long Night; Hugging You; At Sydney’s Blue Ocean; A Long Way; A Dark Shadow; Memories of Flowers; Coincidence; Sack; Sohyeon; Can You Go Insane? and A Night of All Colors. She has received the Hankook Ilbo Literary Award, the Hyundae Literary Award, the Yi Sang Literary Award, the Yi Su Literary Award, the Daesan Literary Award, the Dongin Literary Award, and the Hwang Soonwon Literary Award.
