(English) Jeong Jinyoung is a professor of history at Andong National University. Jeong graduated from Yeungnam University majoring in Korean history and received a doctorate from the Graduate School of Yeungnam University with research on village administration of local literati and the process of their dissolution during the late Joseon Dynasty. Jeong focuses on empirical analysis of the changes in social structures through an examination of the history of society, economy, and life of local villages during Joseon. Her work sheds light on people’s detailed lives and culture during the era from a social-historical context. Jeong’s works include Social History of Local Villages During the Joseon Dynasty, Social History of the Joseon Dynasty 2: Society and People (co-authored), Conflicts over Seowon Construction Among Local Village Societies During the 18th Century, and Dosan Seowon, Another Sky: What Does Seowon Mean to Those Who Are Not Aristocrats?.
