Kim Yul was born in Seoul, South Korea. After studying film at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, he started working as a writer for news and finance-related TV programs. In 2008, he won the Dongguk Script Contest sponsored by Dongguk University and Sidus Corporation for his script Funeral Portrait. His script Hole was selected as an awardee in the SBS Drama Contest in 2014. His script Romance Blue was made into a webdrama in 2015, and his first novel, The Blood of the Sun, is an awardee of the Story Contest sponsored by the Korea Creative Content Agency in 2016. Presently, Kim is working on his next novel and is writing a miniseries drama for television.
