(English) Choi Minji, the author, grew up in Tongyeong, where she learned to live in harmony with nature. Since college graduation, she has worked for civic groups and cooperatives, aiming for a life in which everyone lives well together.

Contrary to the general belief that individualists don’t get married or have babies, and are indifferent to relationships with other people, Choi has raised a family that values each person because she is an individualist. She resides in Nagoya, Japan, with her child and Japanese husband, who has studied ecological travel.

(Japanese) 慶尚南道の統営で競争よりも人と自然の調和を大事にする生き方を学び、成長した。大学卒業後は周りも自分も幸せになり、みんなで正しく生きようをモットーに掲げ、市民団体、協同組合で働いた。

「個人主義は他社との関係をないがしろし、結婚も出産もしないもの」といった認識とは裏腹に、個人主義だからこそ、互いを大切に想う家庭を築いた。エコツーリズムを学んだ日本人男性と結婚し、現在名古屋で暮らしている。
