(English) When he first came across H. P. Lovecraft's stories in 2002, the year the 17th FIFA World Cup took place, Park Hae-ro received a shock so great that his soul shook. They gave him the ambition that he would one day break away from imitation and create his own, distinguished cosmic horror series. After a long contemplation and meticulous set-up, he created a hybrid of the American TV show The X-Files and the Korean TV show Korean Ghost Stories. This became the Gwigyeong Miscellaneous Records series in which extraterrestrial beings and sages from the Joseon Dynasty fight over the fictional prophetic book, Gwigyeong Miscellaneous Records.

With a goal of completing a hundred stories of the Gwigyeong Miscellaneous Records series, Park started presenting them to the world thanks to the consecutive success of his signature shamanism horror novels such as Sal, the Inescapable Curse at the Funeral, Receive God, The Woman with Owl Eyes, and Seopju. These novels fostered fervent fans, allowing Park to achieve the top position in Korean occult literature. Sal, the Inescapable Curse at the Funeral made the first place on Welaaa as soon as it was made into an audiobook.

These works acted as a reliable support for Park to write his sci-fi horror series of Gwigyeong Miscellaneous Records. Even though it is set in the fictional area Seopju like his shamanism horror novels, the Gwigyeong Miscellaneous Records series, with its own world view and interesting factors, will guide the thirsty readers to the fountain of marvel.
