(English) Park Ilhwan received the Jeon Taeil Literary Award in the short story category in 1992, and debuted as a poet in 1997 when his poems were included in Tomorrow's Authors. His collections include The Green Triangular Horn, The Broken String, A Losing Fight, and The Time Behind the Lantern, among others; he has written poetry for children which has been included in collections such as When Mommy Hit Me with a Broom, School Has a Big Mouth, Until I Got 10,000 Revs, and more. He has also released a novel titled The Stars That Went to the Sea. After serving as a Korean language teacher for 30 years, he published such educational books as Rescuing Kim Sowol from the Azaleas, Poetry Writing for Youth, I Am a Fool of a Teacher, The Open Roll Call Book, and others. He has written Their Lost Labor: No Hope Lost detailing the labor struggles of the Signetics workers, and The Stories of Great and Beautiful Teenagers about teenagers who have left their imprint on history.
With his extensive interest in the Korean language and Hangul, Park has gone on to write many books on the subject such as Korean Language Teacher, Wakes Up Hangul, Korea's Many Proverbs and Sayings, Crazy Korean, Scolding Korean, The Stories of Alcohol in Korea, and more. Even after retirement, he continues to pursue writing and the discovery of Korean language dictionaries.
