A design critic, Choi Bum graduated from Hongik University with a degree in Industrial Design and received a master’s degree in Aesthetics at a graduate school of the same name. Choi worked as the editor-in-chief of “Monthly Design.” He gave a lecture on design theory at universities and worked in various fields such as publication, exhibition, and public sectors. Currently, he is the director of the Design and Humanities Lab at the Paju Typography Institute. He is interested in understanding Korean society with a critical eye through design, and he has written critique essays titled Thinking About Crafts, The Civilization and Barbarism of Korean Design, Korean Design Beyond Myth and An Eye to See Korean Design, as well as a design humanities book titled If I Had Read That Book at That Time. Choi won the Republic of Korea Culture and Arts Award in 2017.
