Born in 1935 in the city of Chungju in the North Chungcheong Province of South Korea, Shin Kyung-lim studied at Chungju High School and Dongguk University. In 1956, Shin's work Reed was recommended at Literature and Art, setting his writing career into motion. His poems are as follows: Farming, Saejae, A Poor Love Song, Road, Dream of Faller, Silhouette of Mother and Grandmother, Horn, Camel and Second Floor of the Studio. His nursery rhymes include You Don’t Know, and his published works of prose are Folk Song and Looking for a Poet 1·2. Shin has received the Manhae Literary Award, Danjae Literary Award, Daesan Literary Award, Cicada Award, Manhae Award, and Ho-Am Prize. Currently, he is a member of the National Academy of Arts of the Republic of Korea and a chair professor at Dongguk University.
