Seo Jeongeun studied musical composition at Seoul National University and Freiburg University of Music. She earned a master’s degree in music at the University of Sussex, England, and a doctorate degree in western music from Seoul National University. Seo was an assistant professor of music at the Korea National University of Education. Currently, she is an assistant professor of music and musical composition at Seoul National University. Seo’s major works include “Contrapuntal Texture in 20th-Century Music,” “Musical History and Aesthetic Interpretation of Helmut Lachenmann’s Music Concrete Instrumeniale,” “Uncertainties in 20th Century Music and Interpretation,” “Coexistence and Counterpoint of Two Musical Dimensions through Hidden Quotation: in the Case of Accanto by Helmut Lachenmann,” “Unsuk Chin’s Musical Language, Abstraction and Recontextualization,” “Ambiguity of F. Chopin’s Harmonic Vocabulary: Focusing on Mazurka Op. 17, No. 4.” She also co-translated Piano Sonata No. 32 Beethoven, Harmonic Theory, and the author of The Composure of the Transition Period: Towards New Arts.
