Kwak Youngjik studied physics at Seoul National University and received his Ph.D. from Kentucky University in the US. He was a professor at Suwon University, serving as the Dean of the College of Natural Science and the Dean of Graduate Studies. He authored books including Ten Scientific Revolutions that Changed the World, A Scientist's Philosophical Notes, and the children's book Why Do Things Fall to the Ground?. He also translated science books into Korean, including Origins: Fourteen Billion Years of Cosmic Evolution and Big Bang: The Origin of the Universe.
