Kim is a world-renowned hanbok designer and researcher of traditional Korean dress. She is the CEO of Yejung Kim Hye-soon Hanbok, director of the Korea Foundation for Clothing Science, and professor at Wonkwang University's Graduate School of Oriental Studies. She has served as a bridge in promoting Korean traditional culture to the world through activities at home and abroad, such as the designing the costumes for the TV series Land and Hwang Jin-yi, and the films Seopyeonje and Beyond the Years. She has presented at Korean Tradition Meets British Royalty, The Korean American Association of Greater New York, and the 2010 G20 Fashion Show. Kim was selected as one of the 10 World Artists by FENDI. Her publications include The King's Dress, and Dress a Kisaeng in the Dress of an Artist.
