An Sang Bok received a PhD in Chinese Language and Literature from Seoul National University, and currently is a professor of Chinese Language and Literature at Gangneung-Wonju National University. His area of research is on the comparative study of traditional Chinese plays and related East Asian plays. His major works include Capturing China’s Traditions (2008 Academic Excellence Book Award from The National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea), and Community and Performing Arts of the Ming and Qing Era (2014 Academic Excellence Book Award from The National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea). He has also written over 40 thesis works, including “Designation of Osan and Mask Drama: Features of Type and Historical Development.”
