(English) Choi Heechul is a poet and sailor. He makes a living from boating. As a Bergsonian philosopher who pursues green and the world of hybrids, Choi likes Bergson and Lady Gaga. He was born in Busan in 1961 and graduated from the Department of Fisheries at Busan Fishery College (Pukyong National University). Starting in 1984, he worked on deep-sea fishing vessels and merchant ships as a sailor for about 7 years. He won prizes in the poetry category for the 1982 Hyangpa Literary Awards and the 2005 Internet Literary Awards, beginning his career as an author, and won the 2013 Busan Ilbo Ocean Literary Award. In 2011 he published a poetry collection titled Like the Movies and is currently an active member of the literature club Small Fry.
