Psychiatrist Jung Hyeshin has looked into the hearts of close to 12,000 people over the past three decades. Although she has primarily treated so-called successful men such as politicians, legal professionals, CEOs, and executives over the past 15 years, she has also spent time with victims at sites of trauma in every corner of our society.

Jung has led the group counseling program at the Truth Foundation, which was founded to help victims of state violence, and started group counseling for former Ssangyong Motors workers and their families with the establishment of Warak, a psychological healing center. In the aftermath of the Sewol ferry disaster, she moved to Ansan where she devoted herself to sharing the bereaved families’ suffering at the healing center called Neighbor. She is also spreading the power of empathy through the healing project “We All Need a Mother” by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. 

The author asserts that true healers are those who save lives, not the ones with a medical license. This book is the culmination of her 30 years’ experience and insight from the sites of social disasters.

Jung Hyeshin has authored several books including You Are Okay Now, A Study on People, Before Death, People vs People, and Men vs Men. She has also coauthored Released and Angels Are Living Next Door to Us.
