(English) Born in 1956, Park Taewon studied law at Hanyang University and earned his master’s degree from Korea University in 1985, with a thesis on “Understanding the Buddhism Language and Buddhist Revelation.” He also obtained his Ph.D from the same university in 1990, writing his thesis on “A Study on the Thoughts on Awakening of Faith in the Mahayama.” He taught Buddhist philosophy along with Lao-tzu and Chuang-tzu’s philosophies at the Department of Philosophy, Ulsan University. He retired in August 2021, and he currently heads the Hwajaeng Research Center of Youngsan University, continuing to work on Wonhyo’s hawjaeng humanities.
