Yoon grew up a fan of video games and loved to beat his own scores in the games at the neighborhood arcade. In 2009, he became the first in Korea to receive a doctorate in the field of game studies. Because the 21st century is the "era of fun," Yoon has been dedicating himself to evaluating the "funness" of games and researching the mechanisms of games to see what makes them fun. He's also active in the gamification movement with the Facebook Gamification Korea Group. He belives that the interactions and dynamism of games will ultimately lead all media into the future. Currently, Yoon serves as dean of game studies at Sangmyung University Graduate School. His publications include Game Design 1, and his translations include Game Design Principle, Introduction to Game Design 1-3, Human Networking, and more. He has co-authored such books as Gamification; Play the World, The History of Games in Korea, and more.
