Park Sangryul was born in Jindo, Jeollanam-do, in 1958, the year of the dog. He began his writing career by publishing a poem in Hangil Literature and a drama in Dongyang Literature in 1990. In addition to poetry and drama, he steadily released works in a variety of genres including fiction and children’s stories. His novel, Spring Breeze, cited as the starting point of adolescent literature in South Korea, has established its position as a modern classic that touches the hearts of all who have experienced growing pains. He received the Buddhist Literary Award for drama in 1996 and the Beautiful Writer Award in 2018.
