Shin studied painting and design in the undergraduate and graduate program at Hongik University. After studying illustration at Hills, he illustrated My First Key Ever, The Big Plan of Collecting Our Words, Hey Kids, Let’s Go to School!, I’m Selling My Sty, Making Condiments at Gaeul’s House, Great Grandma Is One Hundred Years Old, and more.  Hey Kids, Let’s Go to School! and Making Condiments at Gaeul’s House were included in elementary school textbooks. He wrote and illustrated Hi, Loner, My Sister Is Pig!, and The Day When Trees Disappeared.
