Kim Gaecheon is a professor at Kookmin University’s College of Design, an architect and designer who has studied both architecture and Seon (禪) philosophy. His work spans architectural design, painting, and writing, drawing inspiration from Korean tradition and Seon (禪) thought to develop a modern aesthetic. His publications include Silent Architecture and Laozi and the Philosophy of Space and Form. His notable architectural works include the Ihwam Campus, Dongguk University Seon (禪) Center in Gyeongju, Han Khan House, Myungwon Museum at Kookmin University, and the Geonmyungwon. His designs have earned the Red Dot Design Award, the Korean Institute of Architects Award, the Korea Design Award, and the Ministry of Culture & Tourism’s Best Book of the Year, among others.
