In this story under the theme of "Life is music," the wounds and loneliness of a child become healed through music. On the way to school, a child is walking with his head down, deep in thought. The child arrives at school, where he is bullied by bigger boys, and he only feels lonely at school. On the way home, a bird flies over the head of the child, who is sitting at the playground. From then, the bird becomes musical notes and the child listens to the music. The music gradually rises to its peak and the child’s gestures become larger and more dramatic. What brings the child back to the reality are cats and rats. The birds go back to their place and the child comes back to ordinary life. Then, what about the inside of the young boy? How has he changed?

Jo Ara
(Russian) Художник-иллюстратор Чо Ара поздно осознала свою мечту и уже будучи студенткой университета начала самостоятельно заниматься рисованием, а затем окончила курсы в Школе книжной иллюстрации SI (SI Picturebook). Её первые творческие работы – книги «Мальчик-ракета» и «Слышишь моё сердце?».
(English) Jo Ara realized her dream at university and studied drawing on her own. Later, she studied picture books at SI Picture Book School. Can You Hear My Heart is her newest book, released in five years since her last one, Rocket Boy, was published in 2011. Rocket Boy has been recommended by the International Board on Books for Young People Analysts and the Korean Children’s Publication Board. It also won the CJ Picture Book Award and was exported to France and the Arab Emirates.
