Overview

Book Intro

Express scale on paper!

《So Much Snow》 is a work that focuses on the scalability of white paper. So I focused on expressing the background simply. The white color without anything becomes a huge snow, a snowball, or a snowman. It becomes a space where you can imagine anything. Just as you can imagine a landscape with enough snow to bury a house just by drawing a single window with light streaming in on an all-white background on the cover of a book.

A magical story hidden in the pure white space!

What are people waiting for in the cold winter? Isn’t it the snow that covers the world in white? 《So Much Snow》 begins with the morning scene of a day when there was so much snow that the house was completely buried in snow. The two children begin to shovel away the snow that has accumulated so much that they can barely open the door. The children who came up through the snow soon start having a snowball fight. The two children have a snowball fight and soon start building a snowman. How big is the snowman the kids make?

About the Author

Park Hyunmin

(English) Our mothers used to tell us goblins only come out at night. Sometimes, when I hear children out playing late at night, I look out the window, feeling the urge to go out and join them. I would wait in vain for them to ask me to come play. I'm sure you've heard those magic words that sweep you off your feet and whisk you away to the playground: "Guys! Come out and play!" With that in mind, I worked on this book, Let's Play Together, my second picture book. My first picture book, So Much Snow, was a study in space and scale; for this book I received the Bologna Ragazzi Award 2021 in the Opera Prima special mention category. Let's Play Together was chosen to be included in The Braw Amazing Bookshelf. My third picture book, Finding Light was chosen as the Korean selection for the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava BIB.
