Эта книга создана по мотивам стихотворения известного детского поэта Юн Сокчуна «Половина пятого», действие которого происходит в те времена, когда ещё не во всех домах были часы. История коротковолосой девочки, которая отправляется в лавку, чтобы узнать время, оживает перед нами в незатейливых и простодушных рисунках художницы Ли Ёнгён, каждый из которых, словно старая фотография, наполнен атмосферой ностальгии.
«Дедушка, маменька спрашивает, который час!» – «Половина пятого». Узнав время, девочка идёт домой, бормоча себе под нос: «Половина пятого, половина пятого…». По дороге она засматривается то на пьющего воду петуха, то на муравьёв, снующих вдоль заросшего мальвами забора, то на разлетавшихся красных стрекозок. Когда девочка вернулась домой, солнце уже село за горизонт.
(English) Half Past Four
The children's poem of Half Past Four by Yoon Seok-joong has been made into a picture book. In the days when there were no clocks in any house, the story of a bobbed-hair girl going to the local corner shop to ask for the time is expressed with light picture. The sense of longing, like from seeing faded photos, is felt everywhere in the paintings.
"Sir, Mom asks what time it is!" "It's half past four." Half past four, half past four... the child murmurs and heads back home. The child watches the roosters drinking water, sees herds of ants crawling in front of a hollyhock fence, and watches a dragonfly flying somewhere. When the child arrives home, the sun has already set.
The child says to her mother, boldly, "It's half past four!" Both of the child's hands are already full of pink flowers, and her face is red with the flames of sunset. The old landscape warms up your heart. The image of a child who is fascinated by anything strange is drawn vividly.

Yun, Seok-jung
(English) Yun, Seok-jung was born in Seoul in 1911. He graduated from Sophia University in Japan after dropping out of Yangjung High School. Until he passed away on December 9, 2003, at 93, He was a poet and leader of the world of Korean children's literature, as well as a child cultural activist called the 'father of children's songs' or 'Yun Seok jung Grandpa.' Of the more than 1,200 children's poems he left, more than 800 have been made into children's songs, including Pongdang Pongdang, Cchak Cchak Kkoong, Narinari Forsythia, Half Moon in the Day, Beside Train Track, Three Umbrellas Side by Side. The Children's Day Song, and Graduation Song have been widely known across generations.
(Russian) Поэт Юн Сокчун родился в Сеуле в 1911 году, учился в школе Янчжон, а позже окончил Университет Софии в Токио. Он писал стихи и песни для детей и до последних дней жизни был активистом движения за поддержку детской культуры. За его роль в детской литературе его называли «отцом детских песен» и «дедушкой Юн Сокчуном». Поэт скончался 9 декабря 2003 года в возрасте 93 лет.
Lee Young-kyung
(English) Every picture book feels like I’m working on something entirely new, so my mind always shakes and rattles. As I continue to indulge in only trying unfamiliar things, I feel like I will live as a trainee for the rest of my life. I love the scenery of dawn and sunrise as I wake up at around four in the morning, driving around the suburbs without even washing my face.
Previously, I have published 『Seven Friends of the Lady's Room』, 『Half Past Four』, 『What is the Cat's Life?』, and 『Seoshank Redemption』 is my first picture book with Gloyeon.
(Russian) Ли Ёнгён родилась в 1966 году в городе Тэгу, окончила факультет изобразительных искусств Сеульского государственного университета по специальности «восточная живопись». Она является соавтором множества иллюстрированных книг и детских сказок. Художнице нравится совмещать работу с игрой, и она всегда мечтала создавать книги с картинками, чтобы делиться весельем и радостью с другими.
