This picture book depicts the sound of each musical instrument as a visible shape. The author expresses the low sound of the trombone as a thick wavy line, and the strong sound of trumpet as a spiky red star. Use your imagination while listening to the sound of each musical instrument.(Japanese) オーケストラ
公演会場の中に人々が列をなして入っていきます。舞台の上にトロンボーン奏者が登場します。目を閉じてトロンボーンの音に耳をすませてみてください。その音を聞いて思い浮かぶ形はありますか？ この本は楽器の音を視覚的な図形で表しています。トロンボーンの低くて太い音は分厚い線で波打つように描かれ、明るく力強い音色のトランペットは赤い星の形で、バイオリンの音はきらびやかでくねくねとした線で表現されています。 様々な楽器が集まってオーケストラの演奏が始まります。そして、楽器の音の図形たちも集まって夜空を美しく飾ります。 「オーケストラ」は2017年にボローニャ国際児童図書展で、今年のイラストレーターに選ばれた作品です。本に印刷されたQRコードを通じて、楽器それぞれの音を聞くことができます。

Joo Yeon-gyong
(English) Joo Yeon-gyong worked as a children's picture book designer before studying illustration at the University of Brighton Graduate School and becoming a picture book writer and illustrator. Big Bad Pig, one of the books Joo created in the U.K, was arawded Highly Commended for the 2012 Macmillan Children’s Book Prize. Thanks to Orchestra, she was selected as the Illustrator of the Year in 2017 at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair. Orchestra is the first book Joo wrote and illustrated. She still remembers the wonderful orchestra performances she attended when she was young. Many musical instruments with different sounds were played together, forming one musical unit. When Joo left the concert hall, stars in the night sky were shinning like diamonds. Looking at the stars, she thought music filled her, everyone around her, and the world. The experience became one of her motives for writing and illustrating this book.
(Japanese) 子供の本デザイナーとして活動し、イギリスブライトン大学大学院でイラストレーションを学びました。イギリスで作った本の一つである『Big Bad Pig』が2012 Macmillan Children’s Book PrizeでHighly Commendedを受賞し、『オーケストラ』で2017ボローニャ国際児童図書展今年のイラストレーターに選定されました。
(French) J'ai travaillé en tant que créatrice de livre pour enfant et fait le master en illustration à l'université de Brighton en Royaume-Uni. J'ai gagné le prix 'Higly Commended' à '2012 Macmillan Children’s Book Prize' par un des livres que j'ai fabriqués en Royaume-Uni. Aussi, je suis sélectionnée comme illustratrice de l'année à l'exposition des livres pour enfant de Bologne en 2017 pour son livre "Orchestre".
