- Overview
-
This book is a letter sent to all the grandmothers in this world.
- Book Intro
-
This book contains conversations between a grandmother and her granddaughter as she braids her hair.
The grandmother talks about the life she lived while the granddaughter talks about the life she will live in the future.
Through a format where the lives of the grandmother and granddaughter cross, the grandmother's time period is compared to that of her granddaughter.
People from the grandmother's generation "endured" life in the whirlpool of history while the granddaughter "endures" life in a different type of war, one of studying, work, marriage and child rearing.
You cannot say that one life is more valuable than the other. You can only see that their pains and sadness are as different as the periods they lived in.
For those living an "enduring life" in this barren era, the grandmother's presence provides warmth. This book is full of that feeling of longing that so many people sympathize with.
