(English) The war in the Mud flat
This creative picture book tells an imaginary story about what could happen in the wetlands if then environment changes. The preparation of different creatures for an invasion of enemies is depicted as a "war," but it looks rather like a fun game. A comic-style framing technique and many humorous scenes make this book interesting for both young and old people. Through its realistic depictions, readers can easily learn about the appearances and characteristics of wetland creatures and the ecology of the habitat.

Que se passera-t-il si les marées basses disparaissent progressivement en raison des changements d'environnement ? Guerre de la marée basse est un album qui décrit des situations qui auraient lieu dans la marée basse basé sur l’imagination d’auteur. Bien que le livre soit titré « guerre », les situations dans lesquelles diverses créatures se préparent à l'invasion de l'ennemi semblent un « jeu amusant ». Cet album divise l’espace comme une BD. Cette technique et son humour permettent de s’amuser aux enfants et jusqu’aux adultes. De plus, cet album permet de connaître l’apparence des créatures et l’écologie de la marée basse avec sa présentation réaliste.

環境の変化で干潟がますます減れば、どんなことが起きるでしょうか？「干潟戦争」は干潟で起こりそうな出来事を作家の想像力をもとに描いた創作絵本だ。「戦争」という単語で表現されているが、様々な生き物が敵の侵入に備える状況は「愉快な遊び」のように見える。漫画のようにコマを使って表現した技法や、あちこちに隠されたユーモアのおかげで子供から大人まで興味を持って楽しめる。また、この作品は干潟の生き物たちの特性がリアルに表現されているため、自然と生き物の見た目や生態を知ることができる。干潟体験の前後に見れば、干潟への理解をより高められる。

Jang Seonhwan
(English) Jang Seon-Hwan studied art education in college and painting in graduate school. Jang has taught students while working as a painter and picture book writer. His works include Tideland War, Surfing, Lining Up, and Dad Bird. Jang illustrated A Child Who Crosses a River, A Woodman and a Fairy, The Record of the Black Dragon Year, and The Last Wolf.
(French) Né à Séoul, il est diplômé en pédagogie artistique et en beaux-arts à l’Université kyunghee. En tant qu'auteur et illustrateur, il a publié Peux-je construire une maison sur ton dos?, On va t’aider, Chocolat d’Afrique, Salut,parkbot, Papa oiseau, Guerre de la marée basse, et illustré naître et disparaître, Voleur-monstre dans la terre, L'histoire coréenne à lire lentement et correctement (5 tomes au total).
(Japanese) 大学で美術教育学を勉強し、大学院で絵画を学んだ。画家であり絵本作家としても活動しながら学生たちを教えた。絵と文を書いた本に『干潟戦争』、『波乗り』、『列に並びます』、『パパ鳥』があり、絵を描いた本に『川を渡る子』、『木こりと天女』、『最後のオオカミ』 がある。
